Kilgore Falls

Joinme27/4

Kilgore falls is a beautiful attraction located in Maryland that both children and adults will equally enjoy. The place is a little hard to find but once you get there you'll be happy you didn't turn back. It's the only place I know of where people can stand directly under the waterfall. It's super fun and I'm talking from experience, you really don't want to miss this.

There aren't many parking spots and on weekends parking is only based on reservation. Make sure you get there pretty early on weekdays or reserve the parking spot for weekends. The falls open at 8 a.m and close at sunset in the summer. You should check the weather before you go.

There is a bit of a hike to the waterfall. There is an upper level and lower level. I got there at 1 p.m and decided to go to the upper level. The hike to the upper level is a slope, which makes a bit hard to climb. You can bring food and have a small picnic at the upper level. There is a little stream at the upper level that you can chill in. The water level is low to medium.

Then, I went to the lower level where the actual waterfall is located. When you are walking in the creek you should be careful cause some of the rocks are slippery. It gets deeper as you go near the waterfall. Under the waterfall would probably be about 4 feet deep. There is a rock next to the waterfall and if you stand on it is probably 2 feet deep. If you have younger children you should be more careful.

You can find all the different types of rocks at the waterfall. Those look so amazing. If you are a rock colleter you should definitely visit this place. Pets are allowed on leashes so you don't have to leave them at home. There isn't any bathroom available so you should plan accordingly. you can spend up to 3 -5 hours. you may get hungry after staying under the waterfall. You should definitely bring snacks and food along with you cause you can't find and snack bar or fast-food near the location.

The park maintains a 28-car parking lot at 1026 Falling Branch Road, Pylesville, MD 21132. There is no service or parking fee to enter the park. Before you go, make sure you have swimsuit and water shoes and I hope you have an amazing time there!!!
