The five-minute rule

Joinme27/4

If you're anything like me you procrastinate. I know it's not going to get me anywhere closer to finishing the task at hand but I just can't help myself. I have three projects that I know I need to get started but I just don't know where to start and how I am going to get it done. Thankfully there has been a rule that was created for people just like me! It's called the five-minute rule. I was just scrolling through my phone when I found it and I thought it was just a good idea. I needed to share it with people so why not make a post about it.

Let me explain this rule to you. Basically whenever you're procrastinating just tell yourself that you will work on the assignments for 5 minutes. This will make your brain think differently. Five minutes isn't a lot of time. It probably takes less time than whatever you were planning on doing when you were procrastinating. This way you will get started on whatever project or assignment is at hand. Already you are closer to the goal than you would have been if you had been watching youtube. Regardless of what assignment it may be, it probably takes longer than 5 minutes. By that time you'll be so into your work that you'll want to get it done. This way you can finish your assignment and turn it in. Normally my brain doesn't get tricked by all of this. I have tried ideas similar to this one but my brain knows that it is being tricked and doesn't fall for it. This idea on the other hand looks promising so if I were you I would try it out.

If you don't procrastinate then good for you. I definitely know that I should stop doing it. If you do procrastinate then remember this 5-minute rule for next year and the years to come. This rule has helped out many students in middle school, high school, and college so if you don't want to take advice from me, take it from all of the students who this rule has helped.
